CSI Consulting Agricultural Economist C. Robert Taylor, Ph.D., Presented with The John Helmuth Award by the Organization of Competitive Markets (OCM)

The Organization for Competitive Markets (OCM) Presents Professor C. Robert Taylor, Ph.D. The John Helmuth Award – Our Highest Public Interest Award.

The foundation of the Organization for Competitive Markets is to reclaim competitive markets in agriculture for farmers, ranchers and rural communities. True competition reduces the need for economic regulation. Our mission, and our duty, is to define and advocate the proper role of government in the agricultural economy as a regulator and enforcer of rules necessary for markets that are fair, honest, accessible and competitive for all citizens.  OCM is a nonprofit national organization dedicated to preserving fair, open and competitive markets for America’s farmers and ranchers.

Robert Taylor, Ph.D.
Consulting Agricultural Economist

Dr. C. Robert Taylor retired as the Alfa Eminent Scholar (Distinguished University Professor) in Agricultural Economics and Public Policy in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University, and now has Emeritus status. Prior to joining the Auburn faculty in 1988, he held faculty positions at the University of Illinois, Texas A&M University, and Montana State University. He has over 40 years of experience in conducting aggregate economic analysis of policies affecting the agricultural economy, particularly those related to proposed pesticide regulation. He is the primary developer of AGSIM, which is a large-scale econometric-simulation model of the agricultural sector that was developed specifically for evaluation of the aggregate economic effects of policies and technologies that change production costs and crop yields.

Bob has conducted applied research on a wide variety of topics, including market concentration, conservation, buyer power, and bioenergy. His work on pesticides includes analysis of decisions affecting the use and registration of neonicotinoids, pyrethroids, organophosphates and other pesticides. He has authored or coauthored 5 books and over 200 articles and reports, and has testified to Congress on concentration and consolidation of the food system. At CSI, Bob serves as an expert in the cost-benefit analysis of pesticides and is a recognized expert witness providing Congressional, Legislative and Judicial testimony on client projects.
